The goal of the Lifelong Education Center of International University of Tbilisi is to promote the implementation of lifelong learning principles and support lifelong education. Through the creation and administration of continuous educational programs, the center aims to enable the university students and a staff as well as the wider community to use the university resources and experience for professional and personal development and to acquire new professional skills and qualifications.
Lifelong education is based on the integration of life and learning, which includes the provision of lifelong education for people of all ages, both youth and adults, which is implemented through various modalities and meets the broad demands and needs of knowledge acquisition.
The aim of the Lifelong Education Center of International University of Tbilisi is to deepen the professional knowledge, maintain and improve the skills of university students, administration and academic staff, as well as the general public. The center offers training programs; courses on various topics; lectures; seminars and webinars to interested persons for their professional and personal development to prepare them for high-demand careers in such industries as healthcare, business, commercialization, technology, etc.
The Centre offers blended learning modality, the combination of distance learning or e-learning with face-to-face teaching and learning. This will make learning more accessible and effective.
Biography: Nino Lagvilava has been the Head of the Lifelong Learning Center at International University of Tbilisi since 2023. She has 28 years of experience in international development, specifically focusing on youth, women's issues, institutional capacity building, peace, and security; gender equality and women's economic participation; democratic governance, civil society development, and local democracy building. From 2015 to 2023, she served as the Chief of Party of the USAID program for youth and women's entrepreneurship development. Prior to that, she worked as a National Consultant for UN Women, during which she contributed to the creation of two strategic documents: (i) the State Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in Georgia, addressing issues of women, peace, and security (2011), and (ii) the Strategy for Confidence Building and Implementing Public Diplomacy in Georgia, involving women (2014). From 2002 to 2010, she worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Georgia) as a project coordinator and manager for various programs. Additionally, from 2002 to 2003, she served as an invited specialist in international affairs in the Office of the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia. Education: Nino Lagvilava holds a master’s degree in European Studies (European Integration and European Security) from the University of Birmingham, UK (2000-2001), and a diploma in Foreign Languages from the Tbilisi Institute of Foreign Languages (1985-1990). She is a delegate and participant in various international training courses, congresses, and conferences.
In 2001, Nino Lagvilava received a master’s degree in European Studies (European Integration and European Security) at the University of Birmingham, UK. In 1990, she graduated from Tbilisi Institute of Foreign Languages.
