International Relations

The International Relations Service of International University of Tbilisi represents a structural unit of the university. The service facilitates the university's international activities in accordance with the legislation of Georgia, the regulations of higher education in the European area, the university's provisions, and other legal acts governing the university's judicial activities.

The International Relations Service, within the competence defined by the university provision, ensures:

  • Facilitating the processes of internationalization, establishing connections with foreign universities and international organizations.
  • Promoting integration in the field of international education and training for students and academic staff.

About internationalization

The internationalization policy of International University of Tbilisi is based on the quality assurance standards and guidelines of the European Higher Education Area (ESG), the Bologna Process, relevant framework documents, the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the Law of Georgia on Education focusing on quality development, as well as the university's statute, mission, vision, and strategic development plan.

The main goal of the implementation of the internationalization policy is to integrate the university into the international educational space and raise awareness through the internationalization of teaching-learning.

The main task of the internationalization policy is to promote the internationalization of teaching-learning and scientific-research activities by increasing the international mobility of students and staff, developing and implementing joint programs and planning and conducting extracurricular academic events.

The internationalization policy derives from the strategic development plan of the university and determines the directions of internationalization of teaching, research and cooperation contained in the strategic development plan.

The main principles of internationalization policy are:

  • Dynamism, transparency, academic integrity
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of the internationalization mechanisms of teaching-learning; 
  • Involvement of stakeholders (students, academics, visiting, administrative, support staff and others) in the internationalization process; 
  • Effective use of the results of internationalization in the activities of the university in order to improve the quality of teaching-learning and research.

Objectives of internationalization policy are:

  • Facilitating the participation of university students and staff in educational projects, professional development courses and professional development trainings, so that higher education responds both to the specific challenges of the region and to global requirements;  
  • On the basis of the memorandum of agreement and mutual cooperation between foreign universities, inviting and involving foreign professors, specialists and experts in the process of developing, improving and implementing the program;  
  • Planning, development and implementation of internationalization of educational programs, scientific-research projects, international conferences, international forums and other academic events;  
  • Periodic organization of meetings and conferences with representatives of academic and administrative staff of universities in distance, hybrid and non-distance format in order to share the best experience in business and healthcare share and get known the latest achievements and innovations in the field; 
  • Ensuring membership in leading international associations and professional societies in order to increase the awareness of the university at the international level.

Mechanisms for implementation of internationalization policy are:

  • Promotion of development and implementation of internationalization curriculum of educational and combined programs. 
  • Support for the planning and implementation of combined research and innovation projects with international partners; 
  • Promotion of international mobility of students and university staff; 
  • Attracting foreign students and promoting their integration into the university space by offering support services related to the academic process, administrative support and an intercultural environment.
