Prerequisites for admission to the program

a) Holders of a document certifying the completion of general education or its equivalent, who have obtained the right to study at the university based on the Unified National Examinations.

b) Foreign citizens and stateless individuals (except those who are simultaneously Georgian citizens) who have received or are receiving full general education in Georgia or its equivalent recognized by foreign or international programs.

c) Georgian citizens who have received full general education or its equivalent abroad and who studied the last two years of general education abroad.

d) Foreign citizens (except students participating in joint higher education programs or exchange educational programs) who are studying/have studied and have obtained credits/qualifications at a foreign higher educational institution recognized according to the legislation of that country.

e) Georgian citizens (except students participating in joint higher education programs or exchange educational programs) who have lived/studied abroad for a period defined by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Georgia and have obtained credits/qualifications from a foreign higher educational institution recognized by that country's legislation.

f) Mobility students who have been enrolled at the university under Order No. N10/n (04.02.2010) of the Minister, in accordance with the procedure for transferring from one higher education institution to another.

The University holds an interview with the prospective students who have the right to study without passing the Unified Entry Examinations. These persons are required to confirm their English language proficiency at B1.

Student is obliged to confirm the B2 level of English before start clinical disciplines.

Purpose of the program

The goal of the program is to prepare qualified, competitive physical medicine bachelors, who will have appropriate knowledge and will be equipped with skills and professional values - which are in demand for Georgia and the world market in modern reality. Aims are:

  1. To achieve the innovative and in-depth knowledge in dental Medicine.
  2. To acquire the clinical and research skills in delta medicine the appropriate level of education.
  3. To prepare for continuous learning and development for future professional growth.

Graduate:

Interprets knowledge of fundamental issues in the biomedical, behavioral, social, and clinical sciences

Based on the analysis of the information (anamnesis) gathered by effective communication in the medical environment (including in Georgian language), consults the patient, communicates with colleagues and the public in compliance with ethical and legal principles.

Through the evaluation of physical assessments, assessment of the patient's psycho-social status, identification of clinical manifestations of illness severity, determination of relevant investigations, and differential diagnosis, it establishes the final diagnosis and guides the plan for dental disease management.

Performs first emergency aid based on age and condition (e.g., anaphylactic shock), performs BLS (on a simulator) based on age, trauma to the maxillofacial area and teeth areas.

Prescribes medications, conducts medical therapy appropriate to the clinical condition, taking into account their compatibility, interaction of side effects, adverse effects and age group.

Performs mandatory general and dental practical procedures independently on a phantom or patient (with supervision), taking into account safety, following infection control rules and ethical-legal principles.

Conducts medical activities in a multicultural society using ethical and legal principles, adheres to the applicable norms of Georgian and international legislation

Based on the principles of evidence-based medicine (EBM), searches the dental scientific literature, forms conclusions based on critical analysis and evaluation, taking into account academic integrity and ethical context.

Effectively utilizes information and informatics technologies for medical documentation production and practical activities, ensuring confidentiality, protection of personal data, and compliance with legal requests.

Taking into account biomedical principles and modern dental scientific achievements, conducts research and analyzes the obtained results on the basis of a pre-developed plan

Considering the role of the dentist in the healthcare sector, he updates his knowledge throughout his life and adapts to the new environment.

Analyzes and manages the complex information needed to ensure the dental health of the population, encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle, both at the individual and population level.

The graduate student will acquire general transferable skills along with the field one experience:

Assessment of student achievement

As a rule, the achievement of the student's assessment is carried out by assessment forms:

  • Intermediate (multiple) evaluation: 60% of the maximum evaluation
  • Intermediate exam grade: 20% of the maximum grade
  • Final (one-time) assessment: 40% of the maximum assessment

 

Assessment Methods (assessment tools): Laboratory Work, MCQ, OSCE, Practical work, Oral assessment, Question-Answer (Q/A), Presentation, Practical procedure assessment, Role play, CBL assessment, Scientific project, other. (See syllabuses)

Assessment Criteria: Assessment methods are measured by assessment criteria, which determine the level of achievement of learning outcomes and are detailed in the relevant syllabi.

Each assessment form (interim assessment, interim exam, final assessment) has a defined minimum competence threshold. Depending on the specifics of the course and the interest in achieving learning outcomes, this threshold may vary across different courses. The minimum competence threshold for the final assessment should not exceed 60% of the final assessment.

• Meeting the minimum competence requirements for assessments is mandatory.

• Students are allowed to take the final exam if they have obtained a minimum passing score in the interim assessments.

The evaluation system allows:

A) Five grades based on a hundred-point scale:

(A) Excellent – Evaluation range 91-100 points;

(B) Very Good – Maximum evaluation range 81-90 points;

(C) Good – 71-80 grade points;

(D) Satisfactory – Maximum evaluation range 61-70 points;

(E) Sufficient – Maximum evaluation range 51-60 points.

B) The evaluation system includes two negative grades:

(FX) Did Not Pass - Indicates a score of 41-50 points, suggesting that the student needs more effort to pass and is allowed an additional attempt at the exam.

Make up exam will be assigned in 1-5 days since declaration of the results of the final exam. 

(F) Failed - Reflects a score of 40 points or fewer, signifying that the student's work is not satisfactory, and there is insufficient material to assess. The student has the opportunity to retake the exam.

The field of employment and the possibility of moving to the next level of education

A graduate of a One cycle educational level higher education program in dentistry can work as a junior doctor (dentist), who performs the function of a doctor under the direction and responsibility of a subject with the right to independent medical activity (Law of Georgia "On Medical Activity", Article 5). A graduate of the educational program has the right to:

a) pass the residency course and after passing the unified state certification exam, get the right to independent medical practice (Law of Georgia "On Medical Practice", Art. 17) and/or

b) to continue his studies in doctoral studies, engage in pedagogical and/or scientific activities
