Kakhi Kurashvili

Biography

Kakhi Kurashvili has been the vice-rector of the International University of Tbilisi since 2023. He brings many years of scientific, pedagogical, and practical experience in both the public and private sectors.

From 2009 to 2010, he led the State Territorial Organization and Local Self-Government Working Group within the State Constitutional Commission of Georgia. Between 2009 and 2013, he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Accreditation Council for Educational Institutions and as the Chairman of the Authorization Council for Educational Institutions. In 2019, he chaired the group responsible for developing sectoral benchmarks for law, and he is a co-author of the sectoral benchmarks for undergraduate and graduate law education programs for 2020-2027. 

From 2001 to 2003, he headed the Department of Legal Reforms in the State Chancellery of Georgia. From 2003 to 2016, he was the head of the Legal Department of the National Communications Commission of Georgia, and from 2016 to 2023, he led the Legal Department of JSC Silknet. 

Kakhi Kurashvili also provides expert services to various international organizations, including the Council of Europe and international arbitration bodies. He is involved in scientific and pedagogical work at New Vision University and Gori State University. 

He is the author of over 20 scientific and academic works and a co-author of ten legislative acts, including Georgia’s draft laws on "Electronic Communications," "Broadcasting," "Regulation Fees," and "Occupied Territories."

Education:

Kakhi Kurashvili obtained his law degree from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Law (Candidate of Legal Sciences) by the Expert Council of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, based on the decision of the Dissertation Board of the Law Faculty at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
