Vladimer Mkervalishvili has been the rector of the International University of Tbilisi since 2023. He has served as a professor at Alte University since 2018. From 2018 to 2019, he was a visiting professor (Fulbright Visiting Scholar) at the American University School of Communication in Washington, D.C. In 2006-2007, he held visiting scholar positions at both Oxford and Cambridge universities in the UK. Since 2004, he has taught various undergraduate and graduate courses at Georgian American University and Ivane Javakhishvili State University of Tbilisi.
Currently, Vladimer Mkervalishvili is the executive director of the organization "Rights of Georgia," a trainer for the Bar Association, and an accreditation expert for the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.
In addition to his academic activities, Vladimer Mkervalishvili has extensive experience working with international organizations. From 2018 to 2023, he served as a member of the expert group for the Monitoring Mechanism (GREVIO) of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) Between 2004 and 2018, he held managerial positions with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). He continues to collaborate with international organizations as an expert and trainer in communications, human rights, and gender.
Vladimir Mkervalishvili has received the academic degree of Doctor of Philological Sciences at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He also holds a master's degree in law from Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University and a master's degree in English from the State Institute of Western Languages and Cultures; Studied at Cairo (Egypt) Arabic Language Center (1999); He was a researcher at the University of Cafoscari in Venice (Italy) (2004). Vladimir Mkervalishvili is a delegate and participant of many international training courses, congresses, symposiums and conferences.
