Description of the Business Administration Program

Program Name: Business Administration

Teaching language: Georgian

Qualification to be awarded upon completion of the program: Bachelor of Business Administration

Program volume: 180 credits (1 ECTS credit equals 25 hours), 60 credits per year, 30 credits per semester.

Duration of the program - 3 years (6 semesters).

The semester includes 20 (Twenty) study weeks.

Prerequisites for admission to the program

a) Holders of a document certifying the completion of general education or its equivalent, who have obtained the right to study at the university based on the Unified National Examinations.

b) Foreign citizens and stateless individuals (except those who are simultaneously Georgian citizens) who have received or are receiving full general education in Georgia or its equivalent recognized by foreign or international programs.

c) Georgian citizens who have received full general education or its equivalent abroad and who studied the last two years of general education abroad.

d) Foreign citizens (except students participating in joint higher education programs or exchange educational programs) who are studying/have studied and have obtained credits/qualifications at a foreign higher educational institution recognized according to the legislation of that country.

e) Georgian citizens (except students participating in joint higher education programs or exchange educational programs) who have lived/studied abroad for a period defined by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Georgia and have obtained credits/qualifications from a foreign higher educational institution recognized by that country's legislation.

f) Mobility students who have been enrolled at the university under Order No. N10/n (04.02.2010) of the Minister, in accordance with the procedure for transferring from one higher education institution to another.

The university conducts an interview/examination with applicants eligible for admission without the Unified National Examinations. They must demonstrate knowledge of the English language at the B1 level.

Purpose of the program

საბაკალავრო პროგრამის მიზანია ბიზნესის ადმინისტრირების კომპლექსური სფეროების ფართო ცოდნის, პრაქტიკული უნარ-ჩვევების მქონე კონკურენტუნარიანი სპეციალისტის მომზადება, რომელიც ბიზნესის მართვის თანამედროვე მოდელების, ტექნოლოგიებისა და ინოვაციების დანერგვით, ბიზნესის ეთიკური ნორმების დაცვით, მონაწილეობს ორგანიზაციის საქმიანობის განხორციელებაში.

Program objectives:

  • To prepare competitive specialists with broad knowledge in business management, who can assess business potential and market demand based on modern concepts and data, and plan current and future business strategies.
  • To teach research methods and tools for business processes, and to develop the ability to make reasoned arguments and logical conclusions in accordance with contemporary management models and innovations.
  • To develop skills in communication with stakeholders using information technologies in Georgian and/or English.
  • To cultivate the ability to seek out scientific advancements and continuously update knowledge, along with the capability to adhere to ethical and professional conduct, corporate culture, and social responsibility in business.

Learning Outcomes

Graduate:

1.      

Describes and analyzes business management theories and concepts in relation to ongoing processes and events in the business field.

2.      

Recognizes the challenges and opportunities of local and international markets and business organizations, and formulates recommendations for solving problems related to the functional areas of business using quantitative and qualitative methods.

3.      

To address business challenges, identifies reliable sources of business information, analyzes the obtained data, identifies internal and external factors affecting business development, reveals associated risks, and formulates risk management strategies.

4.      

Evaluates the development opportunities of entrepreneurial, financial, marketing, operational, and human resources, considering corporate social responsibility.

5.      

Considers risks while participating in the organization's strategic planning and operational execution, taking into account leadership and/or collaboration principles, and makes reasoned and optimal decisions within their area of competence.

6.      

Prepares a research paper characteristic of the field of business administration and presents it to an audience using communication and information technology.

7.      

Evaluates and defines the need for personal and professional development, directs efforts towards quickly adapting to changes in the business and management field using advanced technologies' analysis framework;

8.      

In the process of planning, organizing, and executing activities, adheres to professional ethics norms, embraces the organization’s corporate culture values, and upholds social responsibility to the community.

The graduate will acquire the following general transferable skills and experience along with field one:

  1. Fundamental knowledge of basic sciences and foreign languages, and awareness of the necessity for continuous updating of the latter.
  2. Critical evaluation of data, independent analysis, written communication skills, participation in discussions, and negotiation in a professional context.

Assessment of student achievement

As a rule, the achievement of the student's assessment is carried out by assessment forms:

  • Intermediate (multiple) evaluation: 60% of the maximum evaluation
  • Intermediate exam grade: 20% of the maximum grade
  • Final (one-time) assessment: 40% of the maximum assessment

 

The evaluation system allows:

A) Five grades based on a hundred-point scale:

(A) Excellent – Evaluation range 91-100 points;

(B) Very Good – Maximum evaluation range 81-90 points;

(C) Good – Maximum evaluation range 71-80 points;

(D) Satisfactory – Maximum evaluation range 61-70 points;

(E) Sufficient – Maximum evaluation range 51-60 points.

B) The evaluation system includes two negative grades:

(FX) Did Not Pass - Indicates a score of 41-50 points, suggesting that the student needs more effort to pass and is allowed an additional attempt at the exam.

Make up exam will be assigned in 1-5 days since declaration of the results of the final exam. 

(F) Failed - Reflects a score of 40 points or fewer, signifying that the student's work is not satisfactory, and there is insufficient material to assess. The student has the opportunity to retake the exam.

 

Assessment Methods (assessment tools): Oral questioning, Q&A, MCQ, practical work, presentation, role play, CBL assessment, scientific project, etc. (see syllabi).

Assessment Criteria: Assessment methods are measured by assessment criteria, which determine the level of achievement of learning outcomes and are detailed in the relevant syllabi.

Each assessment form (interim assessment, interim exam, final assessment) has a defined minimum competence threshold. Depending on the specifics of the course and the interest in achieving learning outcomes, this threshold may vary across different courses. The minimum competence threshold for the final assessment should not exceed 60% of the final assessment.

• Meeting the minimum competence requirements for assessments is mandatory.

• Students are allowed to take the final exam if they have obtained a minimum passing score in the interim assessments.

Bachelor’s Thesis

The bachelor's thesis includes both interim and final assessments. The thesis is evaluated on a maximum of 100 points. The assessment consists of an interim assessment with a maximum of 60 points and a final assessment with a maximum of 40 points.

Graduates of the program have the option to continue their studies in a master's program in accordance with the legally established procedures. This is aimed at preparing specialists at an advanced level.
